Research Associate

Donorly seeks a full-time Research Associate to join our growing team in support of our nonprofit clients.

We strive for a transparent equity-based salary calculation for all of our employees. The salary for this position begins at $52,326 for NYC residents, with adjustments based on experience, client and team responsibilities, and leadership within the field. Please note that for applications outside of NYC, there is an adjustment for geographic cost of living.

Donorly is a partially remote workplace. Candidates living outside NYC are welcome to apply.

Donorly is a partially distributed/remote/virtual workplace. Team members work virtually from across the United States. We are headquartered in New York City.

QUALITIES, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate for the Research Associate position is a collaborative, team-oriented individual with:

  • Experience planning and managing multiple projects/priorities simultaneously

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • A keen eye for detail, including editing and proofreading abilities

  • Strong interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills

  • Client/customer-oriented mindset

  • Solid computer skills and a willingness to learn new apps/technology

  • A motivated, can-do spirit

  • Ideal candidates may also have:

  • Nonprofit fundraising, grant writing, or database management experience

  • A familiarity with standard donor research tools

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct proactive and reactive research on prospective donors, using internet resources and subscription research tools to locate, analyze and interpret financial capacity and propensity.

  • Use data-driven prospect development techniques to identify individuals and institutions who have the capacity and inclination to support clients’ activities.

  • Assist in identifying potential new prospects for client priorities.

  • Collaborate with clients and staff to provide research-based analysis to assist with cultivation and solicitation strategies.

  • Plan and organize regular donor research training sessions to keep the Donorly team up to date on industry best practices and research strategies.

  • Monitor client research hours, ensuring a steady flow of work to client that does not exceed paid allotment.

  • Maintain company awareness of the state of the prospect research industry through conferences, seminars/webinars and training sessions.

  • All full-time Donorly team members engage with our anti-racism commitment via participation in working groups, trainings, and retreats.

  • Some evenings and weekend hours may be required, usually with ample advance notice.
